The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed an appeal with the High Court (HC) against the release of Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency MP Abdur Rahman Bodi by a judicial court from a graft case.
ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews in the morning.
Earlier on August 21, 2014, ACC deputy director Abdus Sobhan filed the lawsuit with Ramna police station in Dhaka.
According to the case statement, Bodi submitted false statement to the election commission (EC) about his wealth before the general polls in 2008 and 2013.
He had hidden the information about the wealth of around Tk 10.87 crore.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 handed down three-years of imprisonment on November 2, 2015 in the case.
The court also fined Bodi Tk 10-lakh, in default of which he will have to serve three more months to jail.
Bodi had appealed with the High Court (HC) against his three-year imprisonment verdict on November 10.
Later on November 16 (Wednesday), an HC bench granted a six-month interim bail and suspended the fine.
