General public arrested the accused and handed him over to the police in Ramu. The arrestee was identified as Sujan Barua, son of Babul Barua of Baruapara, a resident of Khunipalang union of Ramu upazila. Sujon Barua is known as Chokidar of Ward no 5 of Khunipalang Union Parishad in Ramu upazila.
On 25 July, at 3pm, at Ramu Choumuhani, he was seized by the general public and handed him over to the police station. The next day, on July 26, Ramu police station sent the accused to court.
on 27 July, Sujan Barua’s lawyer prayed his bail but the court sent him to jail after rejecting her bail plea.
Chokidar Sujan Barua was the accused in the burnt-house case of Atindra Barua. The plaintiff of the case, Atindra Barua, is the son of late Subodhan Barua of the same village.
According to the case details, on January 10, at around 1pm, Sujan Barua and another accused Rupon Barua Ledu set fire to the plaintiff’s house on the pretext of pre-feud. The house burnt down and damaged. The court ordered the investigation of PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation) Cox’s Bazar to investigate the case when the plaintiff, Atindra Barua, went to the court. The PBI filed the investigation report of the case on June 30. The report noted that the plaintiff’s allegations have been proven primarily.
Later, the learned court ordered detention of suspects Sujan Barua and Rupon Barua. Sujan Barua was arrested on July 26, but another accused Rupon Barua of the case is still absconding.
