Floods affected Ramu Upazila, Cox’s Bazar in the course of only two weeks. A few days of rain and rain fall in the hills, at least 11 unions of Ramu Upazila again became water-shocked.
Lack of food, clean water and habitat, people living in unhealthy areas are living in bad habit. On Wednesday (July 26th) water has dropped from some areas but the sufferings are not decreasing.
On the other hand, due to floods, there has been disaster in different areas of the Upazila, roads and ghat along with village protection embankment are damaged. As a result, the people have been suffering in extreme trouble.
Road communication with Eidgah, Gorjyonia, Kachapia, Rajarakul, South Mithachari, Khoniapalong and Kawarkhoph Union have been disconnected with the Upazila Sadar. There are still some educational institutions closed due to water pirate.
The Ramu Fakira Bazar-Jadimura road in the Hyatupi Bhootpara area of Fatekharkul Union was destroyed in the river, the newly constructed embankment was besieged along the bank. As a result, some parts of Ramu and a large area in Cox’s Bazar Sadar with Piamkhali, Bangla bazar are flooded.
Apart from this, due to flood from Bankkhali river and Sonaichari canal the vast area of Eidgah-Eidgarh road has become defunct in the Eidgah canal, road communication between Ramu-Maricha road, Ramu-Naikhongchhari road, Kachapia-Gorjyonia road, Lamanpara-Tishiypul road, Rashidnagar-Dholirchhara road is disconnected . As a result, thousands of people are going to get very furious. Besides, the danger of the collapse of the Kachapia-Gorjnonia bridge is going on.
Nabi Hossain, a resident of Ramu Bhootpara, said that there is severel floods in two weeks. The loss of the previous time has not yet turned out. Now floods again, how will we survive with the children.
Abul Hossain, a resident of lord Ukhiyarghona, Ramu said that in the first phase of the flood hit Jadipara road is damaged. Now the students can not go to school. People are facing extreme suffering.
Nur Mohammad of the same area said, the room sink in the water. I can not go to work . There is no food in the house, I am very sad. We can not get Government relief.
It is learned that due to the three-day rain and mountainous drift, the Fakira Bazar, Haitupi, West Merongloa, East Merongloa,, Srikul, Officeracchar, Mandalpara, Sikdarpara, Lamanpara, Khondkarpara, Lamboripara, North Fatekharkul, Chalainapara, Doanapara,East dipp srikul, Fatekharkul , Temuhoni, Hazarikul, Sikdarpara of Rajarakul Union, Halderkul, Palpara, Moulobi Para, Nayapara, East Rajarakul, Dargamura, Umkhali, Charpara, Cheanda, chailatali, Panerchhra, Kawarokhop Union, Monirzheel, East Monirzheel, LamarPara, Charpara, Purbapara, Jarulachchari, Kawarkhoph Forest Office, Baitoli, Jorianala Union’s North Mithachari, Nandakhali , Nonachhari, Ashokarkhil, Purbopara, Malapara, Rashidnagar union, Ultakhali, Chakmarkul union’s Mohammadpura Hundreds of villages in the upazila including Mentripara, Srimura and ShahmadPara, Kazerbil of the Garjyonia Union, Bomangkhil, Jummchari, Titarpara of Kachapia Union, Chakmarkata, Fakrrikata, MurarKacha, Shokmaniya, Dokchari, Jamchari and Gorjyonia Bazar have been flooded again within two weeks.
At least two lakh people in these areas have become water-shipped. There was a new erosion in different places of Bankkhali river.
Ramu Upazila Nirbhahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Shajahan Ali told Amader Ramu that, there is no official relief available yet. Still, we have distributed dry food as much as possible by arranging locally. Meanwhile, the financial assistance of 40 thousand to two families of the dead provided by the upazila administration. However, adequate relief material will be arranged in the affected area, talked to the senior authority.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Reaz Ul Alam told Amader Ramu that all the villages of Ramu Upazila were flooded. At least two to two and a half lakh people of these areas are living in a paranoid life. Although no government assistance has been received yet, the people’s representatives in every union stood beside the afflicted people. The afflicted are provided food. We are continuing our efforts by the Upazila administration and the council.
It is to be noted that despite no casualties in flood, two brothers and sisters of Raihan (5) and Saima Akter (3) were killed due to landslides in Chainda Hymara Ghona area in south Mithachari Union of the Upazila. The incident took place around 1:30 pm on Monday.
In the collapse of the hill, Ziaur Rahman of the same union, Mohammad Shah, son of late Nurul Alam of Chand para. and late Shafiqur Rahman’s son Ahmad’s house was buried.
